About

Who we are

Dino Toys is an independent review site that covers exactly one thing: the wide, weird, and wonderful world of dinosaur toys for kids (and the adults who never quite got over their dinosaur phase).

We started in 2020 as a small e-commerce project specializing in dinosaur-themed toys, figures, plush, costumes, and books. After years of shipping products, testing them in our own homes, and reading thousands of customer messages about what actually worked, we pivoted in 2026 into something more useful: a review site that helps parents, grandparents, teachers, and collectors find the right dinosaur toy on the first try — instead of buying three and returning two.

What we cover

  • Figures and models — Schleich, Safari Ltd, CollectA, PNSO, Papo, and the rest of the serious-collector end of the market
  • Building sets — LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Ideas, MEGA, and alternatives
  • Plush and stuffed animals — from Jellycat to the cheapest dinosaur plush on Amazon
  • Costumes — inflatable T-Rex costumes, ride-on triceratops, and the rest of the chaos
  • STEM and science kits — dig kits, fossil kits, volcano kits, egg hatching kits
  • Books — picture books, encyclopedias, early readers, and non-fiction
  • Birthday party supplies — banners, cups, plates, balloons, cake toppers
  • Apparel — pajamas, socks, slippers, t-shirts

Each category has its own dedicated collection page with our top picks and a deeper explanation of what to look for.

How we pick products

Three criteria, every time:

  1. Real-world quality — does it survive a 5-year-old?
  2. Value for money — is the price reasonable for what you get?
  3. Accuracy and fit — for figures, is it anatomically reasonable? For plush, is it safe for the stated age? For costumes, does the sizing match reality?

We never accept payment for a positive review. We do not do sponsored posts. We do not publish “top 10” lists that are secretly ranked by highest commission. When we say a product is worth buying, we mean it — and when we say skip something, we mean that too.

Our affiliate model

We use Amazon Associates and a handful of other affiliate programs to pay for hosting and our time. When you click a product link and buy, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Full details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Affiliate income is the only way this site gets paid. No ads, no pop-ups, no paid newsletter sponsorships, no “featured” brands that bought their way to the top.

Our team

Dino Toys is a small independent operation. Our small team includes:

  • A writer/editor who has been reviewing children’s toys since 2018
  • A parent of two dinosaur-obsessed kids aged 4 and 7 (who double as our unofficial product testers)
  • A science-minded contributor who checks paleontology claims and flags anatomical errors in figures

If you want to reach us directly, email hello@dinosaur-toys.com. We read every message.

A note on accuracy

Dinosaur science moves. New species get named every year, old species get renamed, and the color/feathering debate is ongoing. We try to flag out-of-date figures and link to current consensus when it matters. If we get something wrong, email us and we will fix it — with a correction note at the bottom of the page, not a silent edit.
