The Best Dilophosaurus Toys of 2026
The Dilophosaurus is one of the most beloved villains in dinosaur film history thanks al unforgettable Dennis Nedry scene in Jurassic Park. Honest paleo note before we start: the frilled neck and the venom-spitting were both invented for the film — the real Dilophosaurus was a 6-metre predator with neither feature (more on that in the FAQ). That said, the iconic film version is what most fans want, and there are six excellent dilophosaurus toys to buy right now — a Schleich classic, a heavily reviewed Mattel Jurassic World action figure, the 16-inch Imaginext Thrash Attack Dilophosaurus, a Papo collector, the Noble Collection film replica and a budget cake-topper figure. How to choose a Dilophosaurus toy
The real Dilophosaurus vs the Jurassic Park version
Quick honest paleo, because it matters when you’re picking a toy. The Dilophosaurus that lunges at Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park is a brilliant piece of fiction: the real Dilophosaurus had no retractable frill, did not spit venom, and was around 6 metres long — a serious predator, not the small dog-sized creature shown on screen. Both the frill and the venom were inventions added by the film-makers in 1993. If you want film-accurate, the Noble Collection captures the iconic frill pose. If you want scientifically realistic, the Schleich and Papo figures don’t have a frill — that’s correct. Both are valid choices; just know what you’re getting.
Realistic figure, Jurassic World interactive or Imaginext?
Three legitimate categories. The realistic figures (Schleich, Papo, Gemini&Genius) are everyday play and collecting. The Mattel Rowdy Roars adds interactive chomping and roaring at a fair price for Jurassic World fans. The Imaginext Thrash Attack is a different beast altogether — a 16-inch interactive showpiece with lights, sounds and motion, aimed at younger Fisher-Price-aged play. The Noble Collection is for the JP-1993 nostalgic adult collector.
Is there an animatronic, robot or moving Dilophosaurus?
Honestly, not a standalone good one. There’s no dedicated dilophosaurus animatronic or dilophosaurus robot at decent quality in the in-stock market right now — an under-served niche. The closest substitutes are the Mattel Rowdy Roars (tickle-activated chomp motion + roar sound) and the Imaginext Thrash Attack (16-inch with lights, sounds and thrash motion). Both are honest interactive picks even if neither is a genuine animatronic. We’ll add one if a real animatronic Dilophosaurus appears.
Size, age and play value
The budget Gemini&Genius and the Schleich are right for play from age three or so. The Mattel Rowdy Roars suits ages four to ten. The Imaginext Thrash Attack is specifically a Fisher-Price age 3-6 release — bigger, lights and sounds, more forgiving build. The Papo is a medium collector figure; the Noble Collection is a display statue, not a play toy.

How we choose
We don’t run a toy lab. Our rankings come from studying each toy’s specs and aggregating what verified buyers consistently report across Amazon and trusted retailers — looking for patterns in realism, durability, play value and value for money, and flagging the trade-offs honestly. When a key figure is currently gouged (the Hammond Collection Dilophosaurus, currently $71-230), we tell you plainly rather than send you to it; when a category is empty (no genuine animatronic Dilophosaurus at quality), we say so. When stock is limited (the Papo and Gemini&Genius both have low units right now), we flag it clearly in the card. We earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and that never influences a ranking.
